Schack's Yaks ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Schack's Yaks mobile application and website (the "Service"). This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

• Phone Number — Used for account authentication via SMS verification code. We do not use your phone number for marketing.
• Name — Provided when you sign the liability waiver, used to identify your account and rental history.
• Payment Information — Credit/debit card details are processed securely by Stripe. We never store your full card number on our servers.
• Location Data — Used only to show nearby kayak kiosk locations. We do not track or store your location history.
• Device Identifiers — Push notification tokens (APNs for iOS, Web Push for browsers) are stored to send you rental reminders and important alerts.
• Bluetooth Data — Used solely to communicate with the kayak lock during your rental. No Bluetooth data is stored or transmitted to third parties.
• Camera Access — Used only to scan QR codes at kayak kiosks. No photos or video are captured or stored.

How We Use Your Information

• To authenticate your account and process rentals
• To charge for kayak rentals via Stripe
• To send rental reminders, weather alerts, and reservation notifications
• To unlock the kayak lock via Bluetooth during your rental
• To maintain rental history for customer support

Information Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except:

• Stripe — Payment processing (subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy)
• Apple Push Notification service — To deliver push notifications to your device
• Legal Requirements — If required by law or to protect our rights

Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, secure password hashing, and JWT-based authentication. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure.

Data Retention

We retain your account and rental data for as long as your account is active. Push notification tokens are automatically removed when they expire. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.

Children's Privacy

Our Service is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. All renters must sign a liability waiver confirming they are 18 or older.
